Day 1: Depart the West Coast for Melbourne.
Cross international dateline and arrive on Day 3
Day 3: Arrive Melbourne:
You will be met on arrival at Melbourne Airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 4: Great Ocean Road:
Travel to Geelong, then join the Great Ocean Road for dramatic coastal scenery and journey to Port Campbell National Park. See the seaside resorts of Lorne and Apollo Bay, then view the Twelve Apostles, remains of London Bridge and Loch Arc Gorge shipwreck site. (B)
Day 5: City Sights – Tramcar:
Enjoy a morning tour of Melbourne including the Fitzroy Gardens, Royal Botanic Gardens and the Shrine of Remembrance. This afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the sights and sounds of Melbourne. Tonight dine on-board the famous Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, a 1927 tram converted to an award-winning first class restaurant. (BD)
Day 6: Melbourne – Adelaide – Kangaroo Island:
You will be transferred to Melbourne Airport for an flight to Adelaide. Fly to Kangaroo Island and enjoy a full-day 4WD wildlife tour. Visit Flinders Chase National Park and Seal Bay. (BL)
Day 7: Adelaide:
This morning depart Kangaroo Island for your return flight to Adelaide . On arrival in Adelaide you will travel to the Barossa Valley and sample an extensive range of wines. (B)
Day 8: Adelaide – Ayers Rock:
Kata Tjuta (the Olgas): On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is spent touring Kata Tjuta, including a walk at Walpa Gorge. Travel to the sunset viewing area to enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine and watch the effect of the setting sun on the colour of Uluru. Don't forget your camera! (B)
Day 9: Uluru (Ayers Rock):
Join the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour or for the non-climbers, the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Walk (Y41). Both tours include a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Time is available to take an optional helicopter flight (own expense). This afternoon travel to Kings Canyon Resort. (B)
Day 10: Kings Canyon:
This morning join your guide for the rocky climb to the canyon rim for superb views of Watarrka National Park (for those with a good level of fitness, supportive footwear essential). Alternatively explore the canyon floor (an easier, shady walk). Travel on to Alice Springs . This evening stay overnight in Alice Springs. (B)
Day 11: Alice Springs – Darwin:
This morning catch a flight to Darwin. You will be met on arrival at Darwin Airport and transferred to your hotel . Overnight in Darwin.(B)
Day 12: Darwin - Kakadu:
We travel on the Arnhem Highway and stop at Nourlangie Rock, where your Guide will lead a walk to view ancient Aboriginal rock art. After lunch we join our local guide for a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong. Search for saltwater crocodiles and the colourful range of birdlife for which this region is renowned. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre and view the informative displays depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu. (B)
Day 13: Jim Jim and Twin Falls:
Travel by 4WD to Jim Jim Falls carpark from where it is a 900 metre bushwalk to the Jim Jim Falls plunge pool. At the plunge pool there is time for swimming, relaxing and enjoying the spectacular scenery. After exploring Jim Jim Falls we travel to the day use area for a picnic lunch. After lunch we board boats to travel up the first part of the gorge. Following this there is a 45 minute walk over slippery rocks with sand and along rock ledges. Relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery at the base of the falls. Today's touring is only suitable to people with a good level of fitness. (L)
Day 14: Kakadu - Darwin:
This morning stop at Ubirr with a short walk to view Aboriginal rock art. Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River in search of saltwater crocodiles. We have an Aboriginal guide with us and with the special permission of the local people, we will be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre. Optional: There is time for an optional 30 minute scenic flight (A$130) over the Arnhem Land Escarpment. Return to Darwin. (L)
Day 15: Darwin – Cairns:
You will be transferred by to Darwin Airport for your morning flight to Cairns. You will be met on arrival at Cairns Airport and transferred to your hotel. (B)
Day 16: Kuranda – Skyrail – Tjapukai:
Join the Kuranda train and journey to Kuranda, with time to stroll through the famous Kuranda Markets. Return to the lowlands by the Skyrail Cableway. Visit Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, where legends of the Dreamtime are brought to life. (B)
Day 17: Great Barrier Reef cruise:
Cruise on the Great Adventures high-speed catamaran to the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkel along the reef and view the coral and fish from a semi-submersible vessel. A marine biologist will provide an informative presentation on this natural living wonder. (BL)
Day 18: Cairns – Sydney:
You will be transferred to Cairns Airport for your flight to Sydney. You will be met on arrival at Sydney Airport and transferred to your hotel The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore. Optional: Perhaps join an optional guided walk to gain an insight into Sydney's Aboriginal heritage (please request at time of booking, price details at right). (B)
Day 19: City Sights – Harbour Cruise:
This morning enjoy a city sights tour of Sydney. Cross the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and visit the well known surf beach of Manly. Afternoon at leisure. This evening board the John Cadman II for a dinner cruise on spectacular Sydney Harbour. (BD)
Day 20: Sydney at leisure:
Today is at leisure to explore Sydney.
Perhaps take an optional tour to the Blue Mountains or Hunter Valley. (B)
Day 21: Depart Sydney:
Your tour concludes today after breakfast. You will be transferred to Sydney Airport to connect with your onward flight (flights anytime). (B) |
