Technically and aesthetically, Orion is the most sophisticated
vessel in its class. The 2004 Berlitz Ocean Cruising and Cruise Ships guide
describes her as "the latest in the quest to build the ideal expedition cruise
ship". Constructed by the world-leading Cassens Shipyard in Emden, Germany and
launched in November 2003, she boasts a host of advanced design features
including technology that sets new standards in sustainable marine enviromental
practices
Although custom made for expedition crusing, Orion is the
epitome of elegance. No expense has been spared when it comes to the quality of
the fittings and furnishings, and the range and calibre of onboard recreational
facilities are nothing short of five-star.
We believe there isn't a vessel on earth better equipped to
deliver the experience we intend - and the itineraries we have developed take
full advantage of her ability to show you the secret wonders of this part of the
world. To add to your pleasure, all expeditions include onboard presentations
providing historical, cultural and ecological insights into the regions you are
about to explore. |
 |
|
In contrast to the wilds of Antarctica, or rugged adventures in
the Kimberley, the onboard cuisine is distinctly civilized. Award winning chef,
Serge Dansereau of Sydney's famed Bathers' Pavilion, has
created signature menus inspired by local culinary traditions featuring produce
and flavours reflecting the regions you are visiting. Orion's adventurous spirit
is also reflected in our selection of Australian, New Zealand and European
wines: some from exceptional, lesser-known wineries to complement our range of
familiar labels.
Dining at any time is an unhurried experience with a single,
unassigned seating in the Constellation Restaurant. Dine with friends you made
on yesterday's exploration ashore or the couple you were chatting to on deck
earlier... it is up to you. uring the day, if the passing scenery is too
spectacular to simply let pass by, take a seat for breakfast or lunch at our
Outdoor Cafe. With room enough for all, and as all good things in life should
be, dining aboard Orion need never be rushed. |
